The Plainville Board of Education has named Matthew Guarino as assistant principal at the Middle School of Plainville. Board members voted in favor of Guarino’s appointment in a special meeting held on Wednesday.
"The Plainville school district is very fortunate to employ individuals of Matt Guarino’s caliber. His promotion to Assistant Principal at the middle school is not only a tribute to his abilities, but to the school district's ability to encourage and promote from within,” noted Becky Tyrrell, Chairperson of the Plainville Board of Education.
Guarino, a long time Plainville resident, has more than 20 years of experience as an educator in Connecticut, and has served as a special education facilitator, special education teacher, and head teacher in the Plainville school system. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Connecticut and a master of science degree from Central Connecticut State University. He recently completed a sixth year program in school administration at the University of Connecticut.
“I am thrilled and honored to have been selected for this position. I am very excited about the opportunity to have a positive impact on the students of Plainville at such a critical point in their development. I recognize that this is a tremendous responsibility, one that deserves no less than the utmost levels of integrity, effort, and enthusiasm. I have always expected these characteristics of myself, and have tried, and will continue to try to improve them every day,” stated Guarino.
“Matt has proven to be an exceptional educator in Plainville and has made many positive contributions to our school district over the years. He will truly be an asset to our leadership team at the middle school,” noted Dr. Kathleen Binkowski, Superintendent of Schools.
