Background Information:

Minerals are naturally occurring, inorganic solids that have a definite chemical composition and crystal shape. Any given mineral sample will contain the exact inorganic material composition and crystal pattern of another mineral of the same type. Minerals can be identified by studying their composition and crystal structures which determine the properties of the mineral. Learning which properties are characteristic of each mineral is necessary in mineral identification. The poster project will be graded as a test. Fifty percent of the grade will be given by you and a peer evaluator. The other fifty percent of the grade will come from your teachers evaluation of your project. You will have nearly two weeks to complete your work. Be sure to include all of the information asked for in the rubric in a clear and neat format so that others will be able to learn from your work. You're in charge! Do a great job.
