Trimester Three Unit of Study: Habitats

 Skills and Concepts: Habitats

1a.      The basic needs of an organism are food, shelter, temperature and water
2a.      A habitat is the place where an animal or plant lives and finds the resources it needs to survive.
2b.      The resources in the habitat include food, water, shelter and space.
3a.      An environment is everything that surrounds an organism.
3b.      The elements in an environment are other animals, plants, climate, water and location.
4a.      Some animals eat plants and others eat the animals that eat plants which is part of the food chain cycle.
5a.      The changes in a habitat or environment include pollution, drought, fire, construction, and animal and plant population.
6a.      An adaptation is a structure or a behavior that helps an organism survive in its environment.
