 Skills and Concepts: New Plants

The student will know . . .

  • Living things have a life-span (beginning to end)
  • Life cycles (plants)
  • Parts of a plant
  • The function each part plays in ensuring efficiency and survival (leaves collect/absorb sunlight; roots gather water and nutrients, etc.)
  • Plant adaptations (i.e. cactus, succulent, store water)
  • Plants need water, light and nutrients
  • Living things use energy.
  • Living things maintain themselves by using food.
  • Living things produce waste, reproduce, grow and change or develop.
  • Living things interact with surroundings
