Skills and Concepts: New Plants	The student will know . . . Living things have a life-span (beginning to end) Life cycles (plants) Parts of a plant The function each part plays in ensuring efficiency and survival (leaves collect/absorb sunlight; roots gather water and nutrients, etc.) Plant adaptations (i.e. cactus, succulent, store water) Plants need water, light and nutrients Living things use energy. Living things maintain themselves by using food. Living things produce waste, reproduce, grow and change or develop. Living things interact with surroundings
